Cost of prefabricated houses in India – better quality at a lower cost

Cost of prefabricated houses in India:
Prefabrication is a growing technology in India and there are many individual as well as commercial houses being built using this technology. The advantages of prefab houses are:
o   Shorter construction period
o   Quality factory product usage
o   Good architecture and designing using software
o   Safety during construction
o   Low construction waste
Apart from the above points, what strikes the most is that it is a cost effective technique. It provides good design, easy make and at lower cost. India generally exports the insulated panels, the frameworks and other building components from China.
In India building a house was always an expensive venture, be it from time or money perspective. A single storey house would take around a year to be built and costs a huge amount. For the poorer section of people, at times building a single room shelter is a dream sought after.
But cost of prefabricated houses in India is quite low. A house can be constructed with almost one-tenth of the earlier expenditure. Also, if skill is taken into consideration, prefab houses require less skill and labour when compared to the normal concrete houses.

Low cost prefabricated houses India:
Prefab houses are gaining market in India due to their beautiful designs and low cost. Some of the common low cost prefabricated houses in India are:
Bamboo prefab houses – These are made of bamboos and are mostly suitable for hilly areas. They are constructed in modular basis and can be made in a very short period of time with less labour.
Wooden houses - There are many areas where houses made of wood are preferred to be built at a lower cost. The modules are built at a different location and then assembled at the construction point.
