Prefabricated buildings in India – buying and assembling on the spot

What is prefabrication?
Many a times today, components of a structure manufactured in a factory are assembled and then transported to the construction site. This process is called prefabrication. It is unlike the traditional practised process of carrying all raw materials at the construction site and doing the job. Prefabrication is used in building aircrafts, ships, vehicles and large buildings or factories.
The buildings that are constructed with pre manufactured components, carried to the final point and assembling are called prefabricated buildings. These types of buildings are very common across the globe and are slowly gaining pace in India as well.

Prefabricated buildings in India:
For years now, assembling a modular kitchen at home or assembling a bathroom with all its fixes it quite a common practice.
Gradually building a house or a factory through prefabrication is blooming up. Prefabricated buildings in India involve use of factory-manufactured components. These are brought to the construction site and the structure is assembled there.
In prefab technology, an entire building can be designed using software. Some commonly used prefab materials are: steel frames for structures, wooden panels, cement, gypsum and other floors, wall and ceiling materials. Using these makes the construction in India faster and better with prefab technology. For example: Houses using steel frames for structure can have multiple stories without pillars, beams and concrete.

Structural insulated panels India:
Structural insulated panels in India are used as a composite building material. It consists of an insulating layer of core placed between two layers of structural board, made of metal or plywood or cement. Using these panels will provide tighter building envelope and the walls with higher insulating properties. Many modern buildings in India, with centralised AC, use these insulated panels for easy temperature control.  But at the same time the buildings should have a good ventilation system.

Prefab commercial buildings:
All commercial building constructed today have a prefab method of construction. Be it a shopping mall or an office building or a multi-storeyed car parking provision prefab commercial buildings are quite common.
